Nature of Business
The Singapore Clinical Research Institute (SCRI) is a national Academic Research Organisation tasked with the strategic imperative of enhancing Singapore's clinical research capabilities. SCRI seeks to achieve this by developing core capabilities, infrastructure and scientific leadership for clinical research in Singapore. Its vision is to develop SCRI and Singapore scientists as an ASEAN hub for clinical research excellence.
SCRI strives to improve patient care through the design and conduct of high quality, cutting edge clinical research. SCRI collaborates and supports academic, public-sector and industry-sponsored studies ranging from proof-of-concept to late phase and epidemiological studies. Specific disease / therapeutic research areas include oncology, ophthalmology, cardiology, nephrology and neurology. SCRI's capabilities extend to pharmaceutical, vaccines, as well as medical device and procedural trials.
The SCRI houses an experienced and highly-qualified team of scientists and research staff, offering a comprehensive suite of clinical research capabilities. These areas of expertise range from clinical project development and execution, including protocol / study design, project management and, site monitoring, data management / biostatistical analysis, epidemiology and evidence synthesis. In line with its academic roots, where many of its research scientists hold dual appointments as teaching faculty, SCRI also spearheads the planning and delivery of educational and training programs on various aspects of clinical research - in its efforts to enhance clinical research capacity building in Singapore and the region.
SCRI collaborates with clinicians in the development of specific disease, or practice-focused Clinical Research Networks, which translates the Communities of Practice concept into developing clinical research opportunities. In this area of networks development, SCRI is unique in the region. Its aim is to engage a large number of Singapore's disease experts as Prinicipal and Site Investigators and provide in-depth expertise in the design, review and execution of multi-site, multi-national clinical research studies.
